Piggins by Jane Yolen illustrated by Jane Dyer*

Piggins, the butler, at 47 The Meadows, figures out who stole Mrs. Reynard's diamond necklace through his acute observational skills.
Great book to introduce mysteries and observational skills.
*Highly recommend.
