Cool Melons Turn to Frogs by Matthew Gollub illustrated by Kazuko G. Stone

A beautifully organized book about the Japanese poet, Issa.  Mr. Gollub intersperses Issa's poetry with the biography.
I especially appreciated the Author's Note section where he offers more background on Issa and the poems.
Each of the poems is written in Japanese in the outer page margins.
A very clever, thoughtful book.
