Silent Days, Silent Dreams by Allen Say

Mr. Say researched the deaf, autistic and probably dyslexic artist, James Castle and wrote this fictionalized account of his life.  The story is based on true facts, but Mr. Say had to imagine many interactions and feelings as there is not much information available about Mr. Castle.
Mr. Castle perseveres and pursues his love for drawing despite abuse and neglect from his family and educators.
Very sad yet inspiring at the same time.
Pair with Wonder by R. J. Palacio.
-Borrowed from the library.
