Edgar Allen Poe's Pie by J. Patrick Lewis illustrated by Michael Slack*

Math Puzzlers in Classic Poems
We had so much fun with this little book!  Each morning I would read aloud the corresponding classic poem (not found in the book) and then the fractured poem by Mr. Lewis.  Each of Mr. Lewis' fractured poems contained a math problem which my boys would solve.
A little bio about each poet was supplied in the back of the book.
Because of this book, my boys have been exposed to many famous poets-Poe, Edward Lear, Walt Whitman, Emily Dickinson, Lewis Carroll, Robert Frost, Langston Hughes and Ogden Nash (just to name a few).  Some poems they liked so much we reread them couple of times.  One poem they even memorized on their own.
A wonderful combination of math, problem solving and poetry!!
**Highly, highly recommend.
-Borrowed from the library.
