Rome Antics by David Macaulay

A homing pigeon flies over Rome to deliver a message.  As it flies, it encounters the many magnificent structures still standing in Rome.  In the back pages, Mr. Macaulay explains in more detail about each structure.
The text is sparse but the word choice is sophisticated.
My eight year old and I read this together for reading to support our study of Ancient Rome (although a few buildings were from this time period).
A perfect book to read before visiting Rome or after visiting to relive the experience.
