The Incorrigible Children of Ashton Place #5 The Unmapped Sea by Maryrose Wood illustrated by Eliza Wheeler *

Audio CD-performed by Katherine Kellgren
Once again, Ms. Kellgren provides an entertaining performance as she reads aloud the Incorrigible Children of Ashton Place!  Sadly she passed away earlier this year so she was not able to finish the series.

Ms. Penelope and the Incorrigible Children travel to Brighton by the sea. . . in January so Lady Constance can feel better as she finishes out her pregnancy.  While she is there, Penelope hopes to persuade Old Pudge, Simon Harley's uncle, to reveal the curse of the Ashtons.  Penelope and the children meet a dramatic, unpredictable family from Russia who seem to be friends with a Judge Quincy!
The story ends sadly, but by now readers know that Penelope is a Swanburne girl who can rise above any situation, no matter how dire.
We love this series!
Points to discuss: The nurse for the Russian family is love with her employer, the husband/captain.  The Russian husband/captain accuses his wife of flirting with the children's male tutor.  I didn't care for this added drama and did not think it was necessary.
Borrowed inter-library loan (the libraries in my county do not own it on Audio).
