Tom Swift Young Inventor #1 Into the Abyss by Victor Appleton*

My third grader read this book to himself and really enjoyed it.
Tom's father builds a submersible and ventures in the ocean depths to test it.  Then a sudden underwater storm hits.  Tom must use his quick thinking skills and knowledge of science to rescue his father.
