Two of Everything by Lily Toy Hong

A Chinese Folktale
Mr. and Mrs. Haktak have lived with very little all of their lives.  One day, when Mr. Haktak is digging in the garden, he unearths a huge brass pot.  He lugs it home to present to Mrs. Haktak.  She isn't very pleased with his find and bends over to inspect it.  Her hairpin falls into the pot and she pulls out, not just the hair pin, but two hairpins!
Needless to say, life changes for this humble couple . . . with some humorous complications!
My eight year old read this to himself during reading to support our brief study of Ancient China.  He found the story humorous!
-Borrowed from the library.
