Piper Green and the Fairy Tree-Too Much Good Luck #2 by Ellen Potter illustrated by Qin Leng

I love Piper's feisty character!  A couple of times I chuckled out loud.  Girls who like Junie B. Jones books, Clementine books and Judy Moody books will appreciate Piper Green.
In this second book, she is mourning the loss of their class pet, Nacho the rabbit.  Nacho had to find a new home because a new girl is arriving to the classroom and she is allergic to rabbits.
Piper does not react to this news very well and has to deal with the consequences of her actions.
I like how short the chapters are so this series is perfect for the reluctant reader and/or transitional reader.
Warnings/points to discuss: Piper lies  and makes up a story about her teacher to scare the new girl (Camilla). Her lies are discovered and she tells the truth and apologizes.  She is quite mean to Camilla at first.
**A third book in the series, The Sea Pony, will be published Aug. 16, 2016.
Borrowed from the library.
