Calib Christopher, a mouse, is part of a family whose male members have performed great feats to keep the critters of Camelot safe from the Darklings and Saxons. As a squire, he is struggling to live up to the family's reputation. Then his grandfather is assassinated and war against the Darklings is being plotted since all clues point Two Bits, a Darkling. Calib, however, discovers some facts that point to a more sinister plot, and he must summon the courage to act, even if it means being labeled a traitor and being misunderstood.
Meanwhile, Galahad, Sir Lancelot's son, is transported to Camelot and not welcomed very warmly. He too must act courageously.
