Do, Re, Mi: If You Can Read Music, Thank Guido d'Arezzo by Susan L. Roth with Angelo Mafucci*

Over a thousand years ago, people learned to sing songs by memorizing them.  The words could be passed to generations, but not the music itself.  For most of his life, Guido contemplated how music could be written and sung/played.  The people in his life scoffed at his idea.  Finally a new bishop, Teodaldo, listened to his ideas and supported him.
A wonderful story about perseverance.
Lots of musical learning within this book!
Collage illustrations.
*Highly recommend.
