Puss in Boots by Charles Perrault translated by Malcom Arthur illustrated by Fred Marcellino

Lavish full page illustrations.  Beautiful!
Award winning-Caldecott Honor Book
When the miller dies, he leaves each of his sons a different item.  The youngest son only receives the cat.  Needless to say, the youngest son is very disappointed.  The cat, however, proves to be clever and brings the youngest son a world of wealth!
My nine year old read this to himself while we studied the Franks/medieval France.
We discussed Puss in Boots' character and lying.
-Borrowed from the library.
